Are EMFs Something to Worry About?

EMFs have been around since the beginning of time. Learn all about EMFs and whether or not you should be concerned.

Where Do EMFs Come From?

Since the beginning of our universe, EMFs have always been present. The sun is and has always been a consistent source of electrical and magnetic fields (EMFs). The sun’s radiative energy can be seen as visible light.

In 1889, the first electrical lines went online, followed later by radio and cell phones. All of these are sources of EMFs. Almost 90% of the global population has access to electricity, according to a study done in 2019. This means that almost 90% of the population are being exposed to EMFs constantly. But should we be worried about this constant exposure? Let us look more closely at different types of EMF exposure. (1)

What Are the Types of EMFs?

EMFs are typically separated into two types: ionizing and non-ionizing. Ionizing EMFs emit high-level radiation, which can cause damage to the cells and DNA. This type of radiation may come from the sun, X-rays, gamma rays etc. Non-ionizing frequencies release lower-levels of radiation. This radiation may come from devices like cellphones, microwaves, Wi-Fi, power lines etc. The average person experiences some form of radiation exposure daily.

Is There Really a Cause for Concern?

There is no doubt that we are exposed to EMFs all the time. However, it is a mystery as to how much concern we should have about this. Many studies show that EMFs can have devastating effects on pregnancy, sex hormones, and fetal development. (2) The U.S. National Institutes of Health states that humans should “stay as far away as possible from their origin because of the risks associated with exposures to these waves.” (2) One study found a general correlation between glioma, which is a type of cancer that starts in the brain and spinal cord, and cellphones. The study found that a large number of the patients diagnosed with glioma found their cancer to be on the side of the head where they normally talk on their cellphones. (3) A different study found connections between a specific kind of leukemia and prolonged exposure to high levels of EMFs. (4)

Are EMFs Really Affecting Me?

Do you have trouble staying focused while looking at your electronic devices? Do you struggle to stay focused while working? Since all electronic devices emit some level of EMFs, these EMFs may be the reason for decreased levels of focus. Another common EMF exposure symptom is getting headaches from fluorescent lights, being near your Wi-Fi router, or being exposed to electronic screens for extended periods. In addition, if your sleep is not restful, you may be feeling the effects of EMFs. (5)

How Can I Limit My Exposure to EMFs?

While it is near impossible to completely eliminate EMF exposure, there are some ways to help limit your exposure:

  • Do not sleep with your cellphone in the same room. If you have to keep it close while sleeping, be sure to put it on airplane mode.
  • Try to not carry cellphones in your pockets or bra if you’re a woman.
  • Don’t touch your phone to your face when talking. It is best to keep it on speaker or hold it at least an inch away from your head.
  • Spend more time outdoors without your cellphone (or with your cellphone turned off). Many studies have shown that being outdoors can reduce blood pressure, and improve your mood and mental focus. (6)
  • When possible, do not live near cell towers.
  • Invest in EMF-protection devices.

Where Can I Find EMF Protection Devices?

UltraLux Health sells innovative devices that can be used to protect individuals from EMFs.

Waveguard Devices create a protective field which eliminates the excess signal strength and depolarizes radiation. Depending on the size of the area you wish to protect, you can purchase the Qi-Shield, Qi-Home Cell, or Qi-Max

EMFs may occur naturally, or they may be produced from human-made sources. EMFs can be harmless or harmful, depending on the radiation type and strength and duration of exposure. Even though studies have shown a connection between harmful EMFs and health problems, there are some things you can do to limit their adverse effects. Be sure to take steps to protect yourself and your family from overexposure.
