Proven Healing: Discover the Science-Backed Benefits of Hydrogen Water
Hydrogen-enriched water has been the focus of over 1,250 scientific studies, with more than 95% showing positive health benefits. Molecular hydrogen acts as a powerful antioxidant, reduces inflammation, enhances mental clarity, boosts energy, and supports overall cellular and organ health.

Rigorously Tested
Hydrogen water has been rigorously tested through a wide range of scientific methods, including animal studies and human clinical trials. Over 1,300 studies have shown the health benefits of hydrogen-enriched water, providing strong evidence for its positive effects on overall health and well-being.
Study Summaries
Drinking Hydrogen Water Enhances Endurance and Relieves Fatigue
Using two groups, researchers conducted an experiment testing the effects of hydrogen water before exercising. Using visual analogue scales, endurance and fatigue were significantly improved in the group drinking hydrogen water (based on the maximal oxygen consumption and Borg’s scale). Their results showed drinking H2 water just before exercise had anti-fatigue and endurance effects.
Hydrogen-Rich Water Improves Mood, Anxiety, and Autonomic Nerve Function
This double-blind, placebo study investigated the effects of drinking hydrogen enriched water on the quality of life of 26 adults. The findings demonstrated that hydrogen water may affect quality of life by improving central nervous system functions involving mood, anxiety, and autonomic nerve function.
Controlled Cholesterol Levels by Drinking Hydrogen Water
Researchers used 7 studies, with a total of 279 participants, to measure the efficacy of hydrogen-rich water on blood lipoprotein and lipid status—markers of the levels of cholesterol in the body. The results of their review showed a significant reduction in total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein, and triglycerides after drinking hydrogen water, reducing risk of disease.
Hydrogen Water for Liver Function and Oxidative Stress
60 patients with chronic hepatitis B were randomly assigned into a routine treatment group or a hydrogen treatment group. The results showed that liver function was improved significantly in the hydrogen treatment group. After drinking hydrogen water for 6 consecutive weeks, the hepatitis B virus was significantly reduced in their DNA.
Hydrogen-Rich Water Reduces Inflammation and Prevents Cell Death of Peripheral Blood Cells
Researchers conducted a double-blind, placebo-controlled comprehensive study investigating the effects of hydrogen-water for healthy adults. Their findings showed that the group who drank 1.5L of H2 water for 4 weeks showed reduced cell death and inflammatory responses in the body.
Hydrogen Water for Heart Disease
The research gathered in this review suggests that molecular hydrogen could be used as a treatment in various cardiovascular pathologies, including cardiac injury from radiation, atherosclerosis, chemotherapy-induced cardiotoxicity, and cardiac hypertrophy.
How Hydrogen Water Supports the Metabolism
Researchers investigated the effects of hydrogen water intake on lipid and glucose metabolism in patients with either type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) or impaired glucose tolerance (IGT). The findings suggest that hydrogen-rich water may have a beneficial role in prevention of T2DM and insulin resistance.
Increased Physical Health in Women with Panic Disorder due to Hydrogen Water
In a randomized, placebo-controlled study, a treatment group of women with panic disorder received psychological treatment and 1.5L of hydrogenated water for three months, while the control group received psychological treatment and a placebo. The results show that measured, pro-inflammatory cytokine scores decreased for the treatment group, leading to less body pain and better physical health in participants.
Hydrogen Water Helps Chronic Lung Disease
To investigate if hydrogen-rich water (HRW) can improve patients' oxygen saturation—which in turn reduces fibrosis in the lungs and chronic respiratory failure—ten patients with chronic lung disease were administered hydrogen-rich water (HRW) tablets for 4 weeks. The results of the treatment showed that hydrogen water decreased oxidative stress and improved oxygen saturation in some patients, alleviating symptoms of their conditions and preventing further health risks. Additionally, HRW therapy may also provide increased exercise tolerance in patients with chronic hypoxia.
Balancing Blood Alkalinity with Hydrogen Water
Blood that is too alkaline is considered acidic and can be harmful to the body. Due to exercise-induced acidosis being a common factor for those with high alkaline blood, an experiment was conducted to measure how these levels were affected when hydrogen water was introduced. 52 men were put into two groups, one group drinking a placebo post-exercise, while the other drank hydrogen-rich water post-exercise. The study demonstrated that hydrogen water is safe and has a positive, alkalizing effect in young, physically active men.
Hydrogen-Rich Water Enhances Liver Function
A total of 152 patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) were recruited by the Department of Oncology of Taishan Hospital between June 2010 and February 2016 to investigate the protective effects of hydrogen‑rich water on liver function. These patients were treated with mFOLFOX6 chemotherapy which causes liver function damage. From the study, the hydrogen‑rich water group appeared to alleviate the mFOLFOX6‑related liver injury.
Hydrogen Water for Alertness
Researchers conducted a randomized controlled, cross-over, interventional trial to assess the acute effects of taking a single dose of hydrogen-rich water (HRW) compared with taking caffeine. Their findings showed attention enhancement with HRW, along with changes in brain metabolism. Hydrogen water has been shown to be an intervention that can help maintain attention in high-stress conditions but with a different metabolic footprint than caffeine.
Improved Gut Microbiota and Metabolism with Hydrogen Water
This randomized controlled study investigates the effects of hydrogen-rich water (HRW) on impaired fasting glucose (IFG), revealing some of the underlying mechanisms involved in its effect. The findings of the study showed how HRW improved metabolic abnormalities and gut microbiota dysbiosis in the subjects, providing a theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of blood glucose regulation.
Hydrogen Water and Improved Workout Recovery
To observe the effects hydrogen water had on workout recovery and acid-base homeostasis, 8 female athletes were randomly assigned to receive either hydrogen-rich water or placebo water, 30 minutes before exercising. The findings demonstrated how hydrogen-rich water is an appropriate and safe hydration strategy that lessens athletes' susceptibility to exercise-induced acidosis, which causes fatigue.
Hydrogen Water for Parkinson's Disease
This study consisted of 170+ adults with Parkinson's Disease who were enrolled in 14 hospitals and randomized to observe the effects hydrogen water had on their symptoms. The findings confirmed the positive effects hydrogen water has on improving symptoms of Parkinson's Disease.
